چکیده
We have reappraised the age and composition of mid-Proterozoic Häme dyke swarm in southern Finland. The dominant trend dykes this is NW to WNW. Petrographic observations geochemical data indicate uniform, tholeiitic low- Mg parental magmas for all dykes. Nevertheless, variability incompatible trace element ratios, such as Zr/Y La/Nb, provides evidence changing mantle melting conditions variable crustal contamination. Our ID-TIMS 207Pb/206Pb ages four low-Zr/Y-type emplacement at 1639 ± 3 Ma, whereas most reliable previously published suggest high-Zr/Y-type 1642 2 Ma. propose that swarm, possibly also other mid- Proterozoic mafic swarms Finland, records a progressive decrease values due magma generation under developing areas thinned lithosphere. consider formation was probably associated with upwelling hot convective an extensional setting related nearby Gothian orogeny. below continental lithosphere promoted by elevated temperature underneath Nuna supercontinent. speculate origin relatively small swarms, anorthosites, rapakivi granites, rocks found across similarly triggered plate tectonics convection anomalous upper

Archaean–Proterozoic transition: geochemistry, provenance and tectonic setting of metasedimentary rocks in central Fennoscandian Shield, Finland
The central part of the Fennoscandian Shield in Finland is composed of the Palaeoproterozoic Svecofennian domain and the Archaean Karelian craton with a Palaeoproterozoic allochthonous and autochthonous cover. A cryptic suture separating these areas and another tentative suture dividing the Svecofennian into central and southern parts have been proposed. The chemical composition of sedimentary ...
متن کاملPetrology and Oxygen Isotope Geochemistry of the Pucón Ignimbrite - Southern Andean Volcanic Zone, Chile: Implications for Genesis of Mafic Ignimbrites
Introduction: Although mafic components of dominantly intermediate to silicic ignimbrites are rather common, voluminous, dominantly mafic ignimbrites are rare (e.g., Smith, 1979; cf. Freundt and Schmincke, 1995). Volcán Villarrica, the most active composite volcano in South America, located in the Southern Andean Volcanic Zone (SAVZ, López-Escobar and Moreno, 1994a), has produced two such ignim...
متن کاملNd–Hf–Sr–Pb isotopes and trace element geochemistry of Proterozoic lamproites from southern India: Subducted komatiite in the source
The probable sources of some of the famous Indian diamonds are the 1.2 Ga old Krishna lamproites of Southern India, a rare Proterozoic occurrence of lamproites which are usually Cretaceous or younger in age. In this study we report Nd, Sr, Pb and Hf isotopes and multiple trace element concentrations of the Krishna lamproites. The goals are to evaluate mantle-processes and the petrogenesis of th...
متن کاملMineralogy and Geochemistry of Sand Dunes of the Southern Coast of the Caspian Sea
Babolsar eastern coastal dunes have been developed along the southern coast of the Caspian Sea. The studied area is coordinated in N36°43' to N36°44' latitude and E52°44' to E52°52' longitude. The objectives of this research were to: Study mineralogy and geochemistry of sand dunes, to obtain chemical alteration index (CIA) and its relationship to climate and mineralogy, to de...
متن کاملLimited role for methane in the mid-Proterozoic greenhouse.
Pervasive anoxia in the subsurface ocean during the Proterozoic may have allowed large fluxes of biogenic CH4 to the atmosphere, enhancing the climatic significance of CH4 early in Earth's history. Indeed, the assumption of elevated pCH4 during the Proterozoic underlies most models for both anomalous climatic stasis during the mid-Proterozoic and extreme climate perturbation during the Neoprote...
